The words I chose were onomatopoeia words used to describe the actions happening in the panels.
In order of appearance:
panel 1: トト-strumming ルンタタ-sound of music
panel 2: ヨーギュ- fish swimming
panel 3: アカア- blushing ドキドキ- heart beat ピタ- stop
panel 4: ジイイイ-stare アイ-love
I chose to write "ai" the word for love in katakana even though it is a word of Japanese origin because I wanted to convey across the action of her falling in love with him.

  1. Your art is gorgeous! It looks like something out of a real anime book or TV show. The characters are so Japanese looking too, haha. Great use of katakana, I can totally hear all the sounds that occur as I look through the panels. I really like how you didn't use any dialogue. The sound effects themselves really keep the story going.

  3. すごいですね。 The drawings are amazing, and the "dialogue" is enhanced somehow by the lack of spoken words.

  4. きれいですね。This is beautiful! I love how the katakana is incorporated into the pictures, and it flows well. It shows how much you can say without the characters saying anything.

  5. Wow, you drew these?? I really like how the only form of communication is through onomatopoeias. It gives the pictures a surreal feeling as though anything can happen.

  6. とてもすてきですね!
I like the way you expressed the onomatopoeic Katakana in your pictures.
The last word 'アイ' is really cute.
You can also use 'スキ' to express the mermaid's feeling to the boy, which is more casually and commonly used in Japanese comics and/or TV dramas etc.
